چکیده
A sliding electrolyte metal-air microbattery driven by natural eye blinking motion is demonstrated as a source of electrical energy that can be integrated with smart contact lens platforms. The battery (footprint 10 mm2) consists Mg anode and Pt cathode, patterned on an insulating substrate the film eye-tear fluid periodically dragged top electrodes during eye-blinking cycle, which activates battery. When tested emulator, open-circuit voltage across activated (ETMAB) 2.2 V. Impedance matching analysis reveals maximum battery-specific capacity 3561 mAh g–1 obtained at discharge current density 5 mA cm–2. exhibits generated power 1.3 mW cm–2 load 740 Ω. ETMAB delivers eight times higher output more than three longer lifetime achievable static designs.

Eye complaints in the office environment: precorneal tear film integrity influenced by eye blinking efficiency.
To achieve a common base for understanding work related eye complaints in the office environment, it is necessary to merge approaches from indoor air science, occupational health, and ophthalmology. Based on database searches, it is concluded that precorneal tear film (PTF) alteration leads to eye complaints that may be caused by: (1) thermal factors (low relative humidity; high room temperatur...
متن کاملIncomplete blinking: exposure keratopathy, lid wiper epitheliopathy, dry eye, refractive surgery, and dry contact lenses.
Exposure keratopathy, including that which occurs following laser assisted keratomileusis, appears to be associated with incomplete blinking. Incomplete blinking may contribute to the signs and symptoms of lid wiper epitheliopathy. In addition, precipitation of contact lens surface deposits and other contact lens surface drying phenomena, appear to be accelerated by incomplete blinking. For the...

The primary purpose of the eyelids is to ensure corneal integrity. An important component of this protective function is maintaining the corneal tear film. Blink characteristics can determine tear film stability. Increasing blink amplitude thickens the lipid layer that overlies the aqueous layer of the tear film. This thickening reduces evaporation of the aqueous layer. Because each blink refor...

LACRIMATORS are compounds which, in gaseous form in extremely small concentrations, act as conjunctival irritants. Chemically, almost all are halogenized organic substances. Because of a loose mesomer connexion the halogen atom is very reactive. Duke-Elder (1954) listed more than ten liquid or solid tear producers. Chloracetophenon (Fig. 1) has been that most frequently used for many years, and...

Treatment of chemical bums requires rapid dilution of the chemical, decreasing eye exposure to the toxic material. Prolonged exposure to the chemicals can lead to decreased visual acuity, and even loss of the eye (Pfister, 1983). ffighly caustic compounds can be found in industry and agriculture, as well as at home (Duane, 1981). Alkalies are usually more damaging than acids, due to rapid penet...
